Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets

Band Practices

Practice on the drill field

As with any performing group, practice is an essential part of putting on a performance. The Highty-Tighties practice three days a week for approximately 2 hours.

Practices are divided into music and marching practices so that we may clean all aspects of our shows. Band Practice is administered by the Performance Staff, which is a group of musically and marching proficcient upperclassmen who are in charge of developing and writing all of the Band's field shows.

Our practice sessions allow us to quickly and efficiently learn and clean our special brand of marching drill that is recognized by fans near and far.

Music

As a member of the band, you are expected to memorize your music. While this may sound hard at first, you will quickly catch on and be able to memorize almost anything. Lots of time is spent during band practice on memorizing music so that all members can play their parts well.
