The Skipper
What do you want to accomplish in college? Chances are, if you are looking at Virginia Tech and the Corps of Cadets, you are looking for a challenging but rewarding experience. Founded in 1872, Virginia Tech has one of the oldest and best known leadership programs in the country.
Don't believe us? In 2001 and 2005 the top Navy Midshipman in the nation was a member of our Corps. We were one of the first military schools in the nation to accept females and a woman has held every leadership position available. Over 80% of our graduates will commission into the armed forces, compared to 40% at other schools. Finally, our Corps is cadet run, so you will get real leadership experience. Many Corps Alumni have also distinguished them selves as high-level managers and CEOs in the civilian sector.
Two Career Paths
The Color Guard
As you may or may not already know, joining the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets does not obligate you to military service after graduation. In fact, almost 20% of our Corps is 'Civilian Track.' This means that for their time here they will develop their leadership skills, but when they graduate they will go into the civilian world as high-level managers and CEOs.
As a member of the Corps of Cadets, there is a broad range of scholarships that you qualify for (many of which require no military service). As an out-of-state student, you could save up to $3,000 per year on your tuition.
Civilian Track Program
Many students want to develop themselves as a leader, but don't want to have military service after graduation. Our Civilian Track program does just that, we are preparing tomorrow's civilian leaders today.
As a freshman in the Corps, you will one of about 250 other freshman. Through shared experiences and training, you will build bonds with your fellow Cadets that will last a lifetime.

ROTC Programs
Unlike many schools, Virginia Tech offers all four ROTC programs. Whether you want to go into the Army, Air Force, Navy or Marine Corps, the Corps of Cadets has the program that is right for you.

Things to Know:
- November 1st is the deadline to apply to Virginia Tech for Early Decision.
- January 15th is the regular deadline to apply to Virginia Tech.
- The best way to learn about the Corps is to participate in the Spend the Night program.
