September 22nd Flyover

The Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets is proud to announce that, barring weather or operational factors, the 15th Airlift Squadron, part of the 437th Airlift Wing at Charleston AFB, South Carolina, will conduct a military aircraft  flyover with a C-17 Globemaster III during the National Anthem prior to the Virginia Tech vs. William and Mary game on Saturday, September 22nd, 2007.

If all goes according to plan, 1st Lieutenant Dan Richardson, Regimental Commander of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, Class of 2004, will be a member of the flyover aircrew.

Primary Function: Cargo and troop transport
Power Plant: Four Pratt & Whitney F117-PW-100 turbofan engines
Wingspan: 169 feet 10 inches
Length: 174 feet
Speed: 450 knots at 28,000 feet (Mach .76)
Service Ceiling: 45,000 feet at cruising speed
