Regimental Band

The Regimental Band of Virginia Tech, also known as the Highty-Tighties, was formed in 1883. While the band has taken many forms over the years, they have remained dedicated to the foundation upon which the University was founded: Ut Prosim, that I may serve. The band wears a distinctive white cord on their uniforms, which was given to them by President Franklin D. Roosevelt for their service in the Spanish American War.

The band has marched in numerous parades over it's more than 120 year history, including: The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, The Presidential Innaugural Parade, Mardi Gras in New Orleans, St. Patrick's Day in Savannah Georgia, The Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington, DC, and many others.
